Benita Doris McCanne

Services for Benita Doris McCanne, 74 of Temple, previously of Mesquite, TX, will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Assembly of God Church in Troy, Texas with Bro. Abshier officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the services at church from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

Benita Doris McCanne died on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at a local hospital.

Benita Doris McCanne was born on February 8, 1947 to Clarence Edward Jewett and Frances Evelyn Fitzgerald in Dallas, Texas. Benita grew up on a farm and loved riding horses. She graduated from Duncanville High School. She became a proud mother to Frank West and met the love of her life, a veteran, Jimmy McCanne. Together they raised their family. Benita was an administrative assistant for a hospital and various non-profits. She volunteered for the VFW Post #8537 in Mesquite, TX. Her love was shown through the various arts and crafts gifted to her family and friends to include oil paintings, crocheted hats and other gifts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jimmy McCanne and daughter Kayla.

Survivors include her son, Frank West of Mesquite, TX, a niece, Tyran Jones of Texas, two sisters, Becky Jewett of Irving, TX, Alice Wood and husband Butch of Caddo, OK; one niece, Stephanie McCorkle and husband Colte; one nephew, Joshua Wood and wife Leslie; along with three great-nieces, Alice Kite, Phoebe McCorkle, Joni McCorkle and two great-nephews, Enoch McCorkle, Ari McCorkle.
