Betty Ann Middlebrooks

December 13, 1944 — January 24, 2026

Killeen, Texas

Betty Ann Middlebrooks,

Betty's journey began in the small town of Gladewater, where her deep roots in Texas shaped her proud identity. After graduating from Adamson High School in Dallas, she pursued her education with passion, earning a master’s degree from East Texas State University on August 23, 1968. It was during this pivotal time that she met and subsequently married Sam Edmund Middlebrooks on August 24, 1968, a union marked by unwavering love that lasted 57 beautiful years.

Throughout her career, Betty excelled as a district manager of Herr Otto Gift Shop, where her creativity and leadership shone brightly. She also dedicated part of her professional life to helping soldiers in the community as a clinical psychologist, specializing in drug and alcohol addictions. Her commitment to helping others reflected her protective, selfless, and caring nature.

Betty was not just a remarkable professional; she was a devoted mother to her children, taking pride in her role as a mother to her son Jon Christopher whom she welcomed into the world in 1970, and again to her daughter Stephanie Ruth in 1978. She treasured each moment with her family, creating lasting memories that would be cherished by all. Betty's love extended to her two grandchildren, Brian and Jenica Trumblee, who were a source of immense joy in her life.

Her hobbies and interests were as varied as her talents; she loved quilting, creating beautiful stained glass pieces, reading books, and tending to her miniature red roses in her garden. She was an active participant on the family farm, helping care for the sheep and sharing her deep appreciation for nature. Moreover, she had a discerning eye for beauty, collecting crystal and porcelain antiques. These simple pleasures brought her joy, and those around her felt the warmth of her artistic spirit.

Betty's sharp mind, insightful nature, and strong mentality were evident in every aspect of her life. She enjoyed taking single-day trips to explore the Roman ruins in Germany with her children, and their many marches together forged a bond that would withstand the test of time.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Sam, her daughter Stephanie Trumblee and her husband John, her brother Jerry Puckett, and her sister Nancy. In addition, her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Brian and Jenica.

Preceding her in death were her parents, alongside her son Jon Christopher Middlebrooks and her brother Connie Puckett. Though she has departed from this world, the impact of Betty Ann Middlebrooks's life will be felt by all she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Young's Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center in Temple, Texas, where family and friends will gather to honor her life and the beautiful memories they created together.
