Domingo Garcia Madrigal

Domingo Garcia Madrigal, affectionately known as Mingo, was born on March 30, 1947, in Runge, Texas. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, peacefully at a local care facility, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that touched the hearts of many.

Mingo dedicated his life to serving others, working diligently as a ranch hand throughout his career. His strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to helping others were hallmarks of his character that endeared him to all who knew him. He graduated from high school, demonstrating not just his dedication to work, but also a sense of responsibility towards education.

Known for his infectious humor and affection, Mingo was always joking, making people laugh, and offering a helping hand. His willingness to support others was apparent in everything he did—he hardly ever said no and opened his heart to those around him. While he never had biological children of his own, he embraced the role of a father figure, lovingly raising three children and welcoming grandchildren and even great-grandchildren into his expansive family circle.

Mingo's interests brought him joy and connection. He cherished watching his favorite shows, spending precious time with those he considered family, and aiding the younger generations. He found peace and pleasure in fishing and nurturing his plants, activities that reflected his gentle spirit and love for the simple joys of life.

He is survived by his beloved son, Benito Castillo; three daughters, Bunnie Castillo, Benita Rios, and Yasmeen Madrigal; four brothers, Raul Madrigal, Daniel Madrigal, Miguel Madrigal, and Arturo Madrigal; eight sisters, Dominga Gonzalez, Julie Medrano, Juanita McHaney, Clara Fenwick, Otilia Walker, Rosa M. Manning, Oralia Kessel, and Maria Madrigal; along with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mingo was the uncle, a father, and a friend that everyone needed—his proudest accomplishment lay in the love he shared and the connections he made throughout his life. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Vela Madrigal and Erlinda Garcia Madrigal and one brother, Santiago "Jimmy" Madrigal. 

As we remember Domingo Garcia Madrigal, we celebrate a life lived fully, filled with laughter, kindness, and unconditional love. His spirit will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
