Doug Hall, 71, of Temple, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on September 3, 2026, with Carole, his beloved wife of 52 years, by his side.

Doug was born March 21, 1955, in Abilene, Texas. His childhood took him to Sweetwater, Roby, and Euless, Texas, as well as New Jersey. Following the death of his father, Doug returned to Abilene, a place that became an important part of his education and lifelong ministry.

Doug had a deep love for learning and serving the Lord. He earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Abilene Christian University, a Master of Divinity from David Lipscomb University, and a Doctor of Ministry from Abilene Christian University.

For more than 44 years, Doug devoted his life to ministry and sharing the Word of God. He served as a youth minister for churches of Christ in Port Arthur and Nederland, Texas, and later as a pulpit minister in Coushatta, Louisiana; Lindsay, Oklahoma; Easton, Massachusetts; Hobbs, New Mexico; Kingston, Tennessee; Fort Collins, Colorado; and Brenham, Texas, where he retired.

Ministry was more than Doug’s profession—it was his calling. He loved people, conversation, fellowship, and sharing his faith with anyone willing to listen. Throughout his ministry, he preached countless sermons and Bible classes, counseled families, comforted those experiencing loss, and touched countless lives through his friendship, wisdom, and compassion.

Doug loved being outdoors, tending his annual vegetable garden, fishing, and following his favorite teams, especially the Vols, Cowboys, and Astros. A lifelong animal lover, Doug tended to everything from dogs and cats to birds, turtles, pigs, horses, chickens, and ducks.

Nothing brought Doug greater joy than his family. Doug and Carole met through their church youth group while in high school and married on March 16, 1974. For the next 52 years, they built a life, family, and ministry together. Through countless moves and every chapter of life, Carole was by his side. Doug loved her more than life. She was his rock, his closest confidant, and his beloved partner.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, David and Wilma Hall, and his in-laws, George and Martha Moore.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Hall; his son Brad Hall and daughter-in-law Cindy Hall, and their children, Jude and Bethany Hall; his son Caleb Hall and daughter-in-law Kathleen Murphy, and their children, Aiden Murphy, Josie Murphy, and Mabel Hall; and his daughter Sarah Yeates and son-in-law Jeremy Yeates, and their children, Aiden, Cora, Sophie, and Everett Yeates.

Doug is also survived by his brothers, David Hall and his wife, Rebecca Hall, and Don Hall and his wife, Becky Hall; his sister, Susan Kaplan, and her husband, David Kaplan; and many extended family members, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

We will miss Doug’s sense of humor, wise counsel, love for people, and steadfast love for the Lord.

Doug spent his life telling others about the hope of Heaven. Today, we believe he resides among angels. Well done, good and faithful servant.

We will miss him more than words can express, but we rejoice knowing his earthly ministry is complete, his faith has become reality, and he is reunited with loved ones who went before him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9th, at Young's Daughters Funeral Home located 4235 E. US HWY 190 Temple, TX 76501 from 2:00 - 3: 00 with a Celebration of Life to start at 3:00 pm with David Hall officiating. Burial to follow to Greathouse Cemetery Pavilion.
