Edgar Don Boehme

March 13, 1961 — May 16, 2025

Temple

Edgar Don Boehme, affectionately known as Don, was born on March 13, 1961, in Tacoma, Washington. He departed this life on Friday, May 16, 2025, at his home in Temple, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Don began his professional journey as a salesman for Matush Auto Parts, dedicating twelve years to the company before turning to entrepreneurship and establishing his own business, Elm Creek Lawn Services. His unwavering commitment to his work was exemplified by his strong work ethic and pride in serving the local community, even during the more challenging years of his life.

A proud father, Don welcomed his son, Nicholas, in 1983. Throughout their lives together, he instilled in Nicholas a deep appreciation for the outdoors, sharing lessons on hunting, fishing, and the value of hard work. Nicholas admired his father's tenacity and would often reach out for advice, knowing that Don would always be there to guide him, reminding him to circle back when life got too busy.

The love story of Don and Penny Ann Thomas, his wife of 34 years, began when he met her while she was working at Jerry's Pets in the mall, managed by Don's best friend. From that moment, Don's heart was set on her, and together they created a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments, including many date nights at their favorite Mexican restaurants. They shared a fondness for watching goats on their land and imparted a sense of joy in observing the animals of nature together.

Born as the youngest in his family, a momma's boy, and he knew when she was upset she would start talking in German.  Don was affectionately regarded as the spoiled child. His older sister, Doris Werner, lovingly took the brunt of family responsibilities, while he formed a close bond with Debbie Johnson, sharing countless experiences at concerts and circuses. Their relationship was filled with laughter, storytelling, and joyous phone conversations, where each day was recounted with enthusiasm. Ursula Wagner, another sister, rounded out Don's supportive family.

Don had a gentle and quiet demeanor, but he possessed a remarkable talent for storytelling and humor. No matter how many times a joke was told, it could always bring a smile to those listening. He understood the importance of family and spent treasured time outdoors, creating lasting memories with his loved ones. His Great Pyrenees, Beau, was another beloved companion, sharing in the warmth and joy of Don's life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Boehme, and is survived by mother Ericka (Bolz) Boehme; his loving wife, Penny Ann; his son, Nicholas Boehme, and his wife, Destinee; and his three sisters, Doris Werner, Debbie Johnson, and Ursula Wagner; along one brother-in-law, Pete Thomas and his wife Pamela.
