Gary Wayne Belbeck, 59, of Temple, born on December 12, 1965, in California, passed away at his home in Temple, Texas, on Monday, April 28, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Gary's career as a police officer began after he completed his training at the police officer academy, leading him to proudly serve for the Columbus, Ohio Police Department for 20 years. His strong-willed demeanor and commitment to his profession were evident both on and off duty, embodying the values he held dear.
Growing up, Gary had a passion for sports, notably playing hockey as a goalie in High School and became a fan of the Blue Jackets.. He graduated from Bottineau High School in North Dakota, where he laid the groundwork for a life filled with adventure and service. His interests expanded to the water, where he became a skilled diver, joining the Belton dive and rescue team and bonding with nature and the oceans he loved so much.
As a father, Gary was immensely proud of his two sons, Spencer Belbeck, born in 2001, and Austin Belbeck, born in 2005. He dedicated countless hours to supporting them at their meets and competitions, always present as they pursued their dreams. He showered them with compassion and respect, encouraging them to grow into mighty men. Family meals, often enjoyed at local favorites like Dead Fish Grill or BJ's, became cherished moments filled with joy and laughter.
Gary was not only a loving father but also a devoted entertainer. He had a knack for storytelling, often filling his home with laughter. he spent occasions enjoying leisurely smoking his cigars at a local cigar bar talking about many facets of life. His love for family entertainment created an inviting atmosphere, ensuring that everyone felt welcome and full with his delicious barbeque.
He was a man of many hobbies and interests, including amateur photography, which earned him several recognitions through his association with a photography club. Additionally, Gary had a passion for collecting miniature die-cast metal police cars, a testament to his enduring love for the police force.
In his leisure time, Gary found exhilaration on the open road with his beloved Harley Davidson Motorcycle and later his H.D Trike, a true embodiment of his adventurous spirit. He also had a keen appreciation for cars, with a particular fondness for his Porsche.
Gary is survived by his two sons, Spencer and Austin Belbeck; one brother, Scott Belbeck, and his wife, Sara. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Belbeck and Jean Lund Belbeck.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 24, 2025 starting at 1:30pm in Young's Daughters Funeral Home Chapel located at 4235 E. US HWY 190, Temple, TX 76501 with Deacon Barney officiating.
