Gary Boyd, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend was born on June 19, 1949, in Michigan. He peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Our Hospice House in Temple, Texas, after facing the challenges of dementia and the natural decline of cancer.

Gary's journey began in a humble home, where he learned the art of carpentry from his father. He furthered his education by attending a building school, honing his skills to become a talented tradesman. Gary's career flourished as he started his own contracting business, partnering with several others in the industry. Renowned for his rough carpentry expertise, he was a versatile craftsman who could tackle any project with dedication and skill.

Among his many noteworthy contributions to the community, Gary built a remarkable cat house in Charlevoix, Michigan. This endeavor resulted in a two-bedroom suite constructed to aid the local humane society, providing shelter for approximately 250 cats until they could be rehomed for adoption. His passion for helping others, particularly animals, was a testament to his kind-hearted nature.

A graduate of Southfield High School in Michigan, Gary was known for his uplifting personality and unwavering honesty. He embodied the spirit of giving back, always willing to go the extra mile to assist anyone in need. His strength of character was evident in everything he did; he firmly believed in standing by his word and remained steadfast in knowing his limits.

Gary cherished his hobbies, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, taking great joy in playing golf, woodworking, and tending to his garden. His love for creating was not only a career but also a source of personal fulfillment. His proudest accomplishment was the belief that he was "building America," a sentiment that drove him to construct homes and apartments while contributing positively to his community. Witnessing the development of the places he helped create brought him immense satisfaction.

He is survived by his loving wife, Stenna (Halldorson) Boyd; five sons, Harlin (Sylvia), Rudy (Hanna), Ray, Craig, and Gary S; one brother, Dennis Boyd; one sister, Susan (David) Brown; four grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Fuzzy.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Boyd and Ruth (Brostrom) Boyd. His legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and dedication to his community will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
