He met the love of his life, Sherry Sharlene McCray in the halls of Academy High School. While Gary was a football and track star, no sport could compete with his love for music. He played in rock bands such as Shed Rock and Gravelwhip and eventually found himself playing guitar for the praise band at Little River United Methodist Church. His most recent hobbies included watching the Dallas Cowboys while wearing his Emmitt Smith jersey, bird watching, and snacking on Kit Kats and Dr. Pepper while listening to classic rock. He was also known for his love of animals and his special ability to connect with insects.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Loyd Moore; his stepfather, Aubrey Quinn.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sherry McCray Moore; three daughters, Allison Crowell, Sarah Hogan, Jenna Moore; two brothers, Larry Miller and wife Tracy, Steven Miller and wife Janet; one sister, Pam Smith; two grandchildren, Cambrie Wilkinson and Maverick Crowell.
