Ismael Maldonado, affectionately known as “Flaco,” passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in Bastrop, Texas. He was born on November 5, 1984, in Wilmington, California. His passing brought deep sorrow to all who knew and loved him, and he is remembered with lasting affection for the strength of his character, his devotion to his family, and the warmth he brought into the lives of others.
Mr. Maldonado attended Temple High School, where an important chapter of his life began. There he met his high school sweetheart, Concepcion Lopez Martinez. Their bond grew into a devoted marriage, and they were married on December 2, 2006. Together they built a family centered on love, commitment, and their children. He was especially excited to meet his new baby, and the joy he found in fatherhood remained one of the defining parts of his life.
He worked in construction, a trade that reflected both his skill and his character. He was a provider for his family, and those who knew him recognized the honesty, integrity, and dedication he brought to his work each day. From a young age, he liked working on things and took satisfaction in building and fixing them. He passed away unexpectedly while working construction, doing the kind of labor through which he had long cared for those he loved.
Beyond his work, Ismael found happiness in the simple and meaningful parts of life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he especially liked spending time with his family. He was also known for being a fan of the Raiders, even though he never watched football, a detail that brought smiles to those who knew him well. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and his faith formed an important part of his life.
Those closest to him remember a man of deep presence and generous spirit. He was described as the bigger brother, someone others looked to for guidance and strength. He was known as a friend who was the life of the party and as a mentor to many. He was a proud father, a devoted husband, and a man known for honesty, integrity, and dedication. He was loved by everyone, including his "Haters", and his memory remains vivid in the hearts of all who shared in his life.
He is survived by his wife, Concepcion Lopez Martinez, his beloved partner of 20 years, and by their children: Ismael Maldonado Lopez Jr., Esmeralda Maldonado Lopez, Isabella Maldonado Lopez, and expecting a daughter who will be named Concepcion Maldonado Lopez. He is also survived by his parents, Teodoro Maldonado Perez and Basilia Ledezma Maldonado; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Juan Lopez and Felipa Martinez; his brother, Rodrigo Maldonado, and Rodrigo’s wife, Stephanie; his sisters, Maribel Collins and her husband, Gary, Araceli Martinez Maldonado and her husband, Urbano Jr., and Azucena Maldonado and her husband, Israel Luna. He leaves behind a close and loving family who will continue to carry his memory forward with pride and love.
Ismael Maldonado will be remembered for the life he built, the family he cherished, and the example he set through hard work, loyalty, and love. His presence brought joy, strength, and encouragement to many, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
