Manuel Lee Romo, a cherished member of the Fresno and Killeen communities, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at a local care facility. Born on December 24, 1946, in Fresno, California, Manuel lived a life marked by service, warmth, and an enduring spirit.
A graduate of Fresno High School, Manuel's journey was one of dedication and charm. He answered the call of duty with honor, enlisting in the United States Army and rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG). His military service was a testament to his commitment and strength, qualities that followed him throughout his life.
Manuel was a man of many jokes and tales, known for his quick wit and charming demeanor. His smile was a beacon of joy, and he carried himself as a true gentleman who loved to flirt and engage with those around him. His captivating personality made him a beloved figure among family, friends, and community members alike.
He found solace and purpose as a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killeen. There, he generously volunteered in youth programs and lent his efforts to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, embodying a spirit of kindness and service that touched many lives. Manuel was also known for his simple pleasures—collecting trinkets, watching television, and enjoying life’s small moments.
Manuel is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Marie (Betterncourt) Romo, whose love and partnership were profound parts of his life story. His memory endures in the hearts of all who knew him, remembered as a man who brought laughter, kindness, and a gentle strength to every day.
As we honor the life of Manuel Lee Romo, we celebrate a man who lived fully and freely, who served with honor, and who left behind a legacy of warmth and community. His passing leaves a place that is deeply missed but forever cherished.
