Marjorie Ann Burke
Marjorie Ann Burke, affectionately known as Marge to those who loved her, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at a local nursing home in Temple, Texas. Born on August 18, 1939, in Burton, Ohio,to Ivan Emerson Magee and Jeannette Margaret (Soltice) Magee she lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and an enduring zest for living.
Marge graduated from Burton High School in the class of 1957, embarking on a career that showcased both her intelligence and her commitment. In the early 1980s, she worked as an electronic engineer at Raytheon before continuing her professional journey at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was responsible for blueprints until 1989. Her career was a testament to her skill and determination in fields often challenging for women of her time.
Her personal life was rich with love and family. She met Francis Burke, and their union quickly blossomed into a joyful marriage. Together, they raised their children with care and devotion, establishing a home filled with happiness and tradition. They earned the affectionate nicknames “Ninny” and “Popo” from their grandchildren, embracing her role with immense joy and pride. Known for her love of cooking, she ensured that every holiday was graced with family gatherings, nourishing both body and spirit.
Marge's personality was as vibrant as it was genuine. She was fun-loving and down to earth, with a particular fondness for playing bingo, a game she enjoyed not only for the thrill but for the community it fostered. Her collection of clocks was a unique hobby, reflecting her appreciation for the intricate and the timeless. An avid reader, she immersed herself in the works of Sylvia Brown, continually exploring new ideas and insights. Always on the move, Marge was rarely found sitting still; she delighted in shopping and exploring her surroundings.
Among her proudest accomplishments was embracing new technology. She took great pride in learning to use a tablet and regularly watched YouTube channels, demonstrating her willingness to engage with the world in new and exciting ways.
Marge is survived by her son, Shawn Burke and his wife Misty of Temple, Texas; her daughter, Kelly Raper and her husband Lance, also of Temple; her sister, Roberta Magee; one half-sister; along with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Their lives stand as a testament to her enduring influence and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan Emerson Magee and Jeannette Margaret Magee, two sons, Timothy Magee, Robert Magee, and two brothers, Ivan Magee Jr. and Kenneth Magee.
Marjorie Ann Burke’s life was one of quiet strength, heartfelt connection, and joyful engagement. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, remembered always for her kindness, her laughter, and the warmth she brought to her family and community. May she rest in peace.
