Mary Jane Hilda Talida (Rahe) Buchanan, born on October 23, 1942, in Dewitt, Nebraska, and left  this world peacefully joining her son and family in the Lords house, on July 9, 2025. Her journey through life was marked by her passionate devotion to her family, community, and the many lives she touched along the way.

Mary Jane's career reflected her compassionate spirit. She worked in a cafe, Web Press, then started her own ceramics business called Mary's Ceramics in Crete, NE. She managed the business her and her husband Herman Buchanan had together called Crete Roofing Company until he passed away in 2002. While running Crete Roofing Company along side her husband, she embraced a quieter life on her farm, where caring for animals brought her immense satisfaction. She devoted herself to volunteering at The People City Mission handing out food, along with several food banks in Lincoln NE where she selflessly handed out food to the people in need, embodying her servant's heart.

Family was at the core of Mary Jane's world. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, whom she adored and actively engaged with.  Among her fondest memories were the times spent hosting family reunions at her home, hosting holidays, creating a welcoming atmosphere filled with love and laughter. Known for her colorful personality, she had a flair for the dramatic, often showcased through her flashy nails adorned with glitter, always drawing smiles from those around her.

Mary Jane no doubt laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to learning and caregiving. Her friends and family knew her as a dependable confidante, always ready to answer the phone when someone needed a listening ear. Her caretaking extended beyond immediate family; she took pride in raising chickens and assisting them in hatching, a testament to her nurturing nature.

Mary Jane's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Tejral, and her cherished grandchildren Sarah (Tom) Nyhof, Susan (Dustin) Wollenburg, Sheri (Ryan) Daugherty and Brandy Mischnick, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Rahe and Irma Elizabeth (Schenamsgruber) Rahe; her beloved husband, Herman Buchanan; he beloved son, Rick Buchanan; her brothers, Larry Rahe, Willard Rahe, LeRoy Rahe, and Dwaine Rahe; her sisters, Irma Rahe, Linda Coleman, Wilma Payne, and Alma Hermsmeier; her grandson Allen Tejral.
