Services for Mr. Raymond "Ellinger" D Rimmer, 52, of Killeen, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Young's Daughters Funeral Home with Jim Fly officiating. Burial will follow at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Mr. Raymond D. Rimmer died on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his home residence.
Ray was born on July 31, 1970 to Lillie G. Carlisle and Lewis M. Rimmer in Cleveland, Ohio but moved to Florida at a young age with his mother and two older brothers. During high school he played the cello and enjoyed participating in the track team as a sprinter. After leaving high school he worked at various jobs before moving to New Jersey where he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1995 as a Utilities Equipment Repairer however soon after changed to be a Bio-Medical Equipment Technician (BMET). During his service he was stationed at many different places including doing 3 tours in Germany, Fort Jackson SC, BAMC TX and Fort Hood TX, and was deployed to Iraq, Kosovo, and Soviet Georgia to name a few. He was passionate about ensuring that fellow soldiers be treated fairly and about motorcycle safety and was relied upon to be a motorcycle safety mentor, and after serving for 20 years, he retired as a Sergeant in 2015.
He traveled extensively while stationed in Germany to include places like Canary Islands, Portugal and Greece but also enjoyed traveling since retiring with trips to places such as The Cayman Islands, Ireland, and Finland. Apart from traveling and riding his motorcycle, Ray also enjoyed playing all kinds of games including video games and table top games. He also enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music, reading, watching movies, sports and tv shows and had a voracious appetite for learning new things and had an amazing memory for quoting movie lines. After retiring Ray could be found streaming online with friends or being involved with various online communities where he was always quick to be welcoming, share a joke and had been known to "drop some knowledge".
Survivors include his girlfriend, Lesley; one son, Raymond Jr; one daughter, Sharon (Tony) and various friends: travel dog Aaron Arch, and Jessy Ring. Inner Circle: Jason Young, Brian Lewis, Erik Von Enlund, Marcus Stevens, Michael Van Hulst, Willem Van Hulst, Wesley M Shaffer, and Brian McCullough. Two moms: Barbara Scott and Lucy Jackson.
