Robert Duane Thacker, affectionately known as Bob, left this world on January 29, 2026, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 69. Born on May 8, 1956, in Dumas, Texas, Bob's life journey was marked by a blend of steadfast dedication, warmth, and a heart full of love for his family and faith.
A proud construction worker by trade, Bob took great pride in the fruits of his labor, building not just structures but a legacy of hard work and resilience. He possessed a spirit that reached far beyond the physical—his role as a host for Alcohol Anonymous meetings highlighted his deep compassion and commitment to helping others find their way. With an unwavering faith in God, Bob was an active member of his church, where he found community and extended his kindness to those around him.
Bob’s love for his family was boundless. He was a devoted family man, never missing a school function and always standing as the biggest cheerleader for his children. His greatest joy was sharing meals and creating cherished moments with his loved ones. He is survived by his former wife, Rita Thacker, and his devoted life partner of 20 years, Deborah Bush. His legacy continues through his children: son Jordan Thacker and daughter Cheryl George, who carry forward the values and love he instilled in them. The joy in his life flourished through his four grandchildren—Isaiah, Josiah, Ashinee', and Eden J. Thacker—and his two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jayceon Watchman-George, who brought light to his days.
Bob also shared a tight-knit bond with his brother Larry Thacker and wife Glenda, and his sister-in-law Kanda Thacker, whose presence enriched his life and for whom he held deep affection. He is preceded in death by his older brother, David Thacker, whose memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Beyond his work and devotion to family, Bob savored life's simple pleasures, relishing camping trips under a starlit sky, the thrill of fishing adventures, and the comfort of cooking and gardening. His zest for life was seasoned with memorable evenings spent watching WWE wrestling matches on television, where the roar of the crowd mirrored the enthusiasm in his heart.
As we remember Robert Duane Thacker, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life of faith, family, and unwavering spirit. He touched many lives and leaves behind a tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire those who knew him. While he has departed from our sight, his legacy of love and kindness will forever ring in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
