Bartlett

Shirley Ann Torrans, 73,  known affectionately as "Mee Maw," passed away unexpectedly at her home in Bartlett, Texas on Sunday, May 12, 2024. She was born on March 21, 1951, in Midland, Texas to her loving parents James Thomas Newton and Juanita Beatrice (Garvin) Newton. Shirley is now reunited with her parents, along with her brother James Newton Jr., and sister Brenda Newton who preceded her in death.

Shirley will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her son Kurk Anderson and his wife Kimberly, her daughter Tisha Gray and her husband Billy, as well as her brother William Newton and his wife Lasan. Shirley's legacy lives on through her eight grandchildren: Christi Little, Chelsea Anderson, Jenna Anderson, Riley Anderson, Brian Escobedo, Camryn Escobedo, Anna Gray, Bailey Gray; and two great-grandchildren: Hayden Little and Chloe Bell and her beloved fur baby, Tia.

Throughout her life journey, Shirley wore many hats - from being a dedicated waitress to transitioning into a role as an insurance sales agent at Modern Woodman of America before serving as a bookkeeper at Bartlett Electric Co Op. Her vibrant personality shone through in everything she did. Known for her baked goods that were shared with love and passion, Shirley found joy in nourishing her family and passing down her sweet tooth to Kurk and her grandchildren.

Education played a significant role in Shirley's life as she graduated from Midland High School and continued her academic pursuits at Midland Community College. Beyond work and education, Shirley found solace in collecting items related to hot air balloons - dedicating an entire room to this passion which included puzzles and pictures. She had a penchant for the color purple but embraced all vibrant hues. An avid reader and collector of western movies, Shirley's diverse interests illuminated the richness of her character.

Shirley's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life. Her memory will forever live on in their hearts as they recall the love she showered upon them.
