A memorial service for Terry Holts, 62, will be held on December 9th, 2023 at Young's Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center located at 4235 E. US Hwy 190 in Temple, TX. The service will commence at 10:00 AM.
Terry Holts, a dedicated and renowned chef, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the age of 62. He was born on December 15, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan. Terry's passion for cooking led him to a successful career as a head chef in various prestigious restaurants. Terry worked for Allegiance Solar enegry system he was dedicated and learned how to install solar panels to various businesses and homes.
Terry began his culinary journey at Lilly Inn, a renowned restaurant in Michigan where he worked for approximately 15 years. Later on, he took on the role of head chef at the local Wheat and Rye restaurant, showcasing his exceptional skills and culinary expertise. In recognition of his talent and dedication, Terry was appointed as a training chef for larger chained restaurants such as Apple Bees, Cracker Barrel and Olive Garden.
Beyond his professional achievements, Terry will be remembered by his loved ones as the epitome of a big brother. The strong bond between him and his sister was evident as he wanted to travel up to 15 miles on his riding lawnmower just to visit her. During their childhood, mischief was never too far away for Terry as he once playfully threw firecrackers into his brother Eric's bedroom. His siblings held a special place in Terry's heart, and he always ensured they had everything they needed.
Throughout his life, Terry manifested exceptional qualities that made him stand out. Known for his strength and stubbornness, he approached every task with determination and diligence. He fought fiercely for family and friends and confronted his own demons along the way. Finding solace in walking his dog named Kitty and embracing his faith as a god-fearing man brought him comfort during challenging times. Seeking advice from Terry meant receiving the unvarnished truth—a testament to his honesty and integrity.
While not working or pursuing culinary excellence, Terry indulged in various hobbies and interests. He found enjoyment in watching criminal shows that sparked his curiosity about the intricacies of the human mind. Jazz music, particularly the works of Michael Franklin, resonated deeply with him and soothed his soul. Additionally, Terry had a knack for collecting large picture frames, often featuring unique landscapes and captivating sunrises and sunsets—a reflection of his appreciation for natural beauty.
Above all, Terry embraced life's simple pleasures. He relished playing the lottery and believed fervently in the mystical sensation of an itchy palm, fantasizing about ways he could support his family if fortune smiled upon him.
Terry Holts is survived by his eight brothers: Luther Holts, Robert Holts and wife Nasema, Eric Holts, Darron Holts, Darrer Holts, George Holts, Eddie Hutcherson, and Tony Hutcherson. He is also survived by his four sisters: Theresa Holts, Selita Holts, Angela Hutcherson, and Frances Hutcherson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Luther Holts Sr. and Letha (Hines) Parker; one brother, Michael Holts; and one sister, Earthie Lee Tatum.
Terry's legacy as a talented chef with an unwavering dedication to his craft will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in peace as we remember him fondly for his remarkable achievements and loving spirit.
