Wanona Leona Goldman Marek, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Temple, Texas, surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family. Born on May 29, 1937, in Temple, Texas, Wanona was a radiant presence whose life touched many.

Throughout her life, Wanona wore many hats, excelling as a handyman, a skilled restaurant cake baker, and a dedicated homemaker. Her creativity and determination were evident in the thriving garden she nurtured, the delicious baked goods she prepared, and the intricate crochet projects she completed. Wanona was particularly known for her freshly made kolaches and could often be found tending to her greenhouse or crafting new items. She enjoyed watching judge shows, gaming shows, and channels dedicated to cooking and farming. She loved playing 42 dominoes and taking Casino Trips. .

Wanona attended school at Thompson Community School, and graduated from Rosebud High School in 1956. Her educational experiences provided her with a strong foundation that she would build upon throughout her life. A true family person at heart, Wanona devoted herself to her loved ones, often recalling the moment she met the love of her life at a picnic in Marak. This meeting led to their marriage and the blessing of two daughters, Ruth Ann and Diane. Their journey took them from Leedale to Dallas for work for about ten years, and eventually back to Rogers, where they lovingly built a home and cultivated their family farm together.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Alvin Marek; her daughter, Ruth Ann Cox and her husband, Creed Eddie Cox; granddaughter, Rebecca Lyn Cox; grandson, James Robert Spohn and his wife Christie Spohn; granddaughter, Jennifer Spohn; and grandson, Jason Spohn.

Wanona is preceded in death by her father, Paul Goldman; her mother, Leona Pfeiffer Goldman; her infant brother, Lloyd Ray Goldman; her daughter, Diane Elizabeth Spohn; and her son-in-law, Don Spohn.
