William Thomas, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on November 23, 1951, in Waco, Texas, Bill led a life marked by dedication, service, and a love for the simple joys that defined his character.
A proud veteran, Bill served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 until 1975. Following his military service, he committed himself to the community as a Correction Officer at the Marlin Detention Center, where his steadfast presence was a testament to his strong sense of duty.
Bill’s educational journey began in New Braunfels, Texas, where he graduated from Canyon High School in May 1970. Beyond his professional career and military service, he nurtured a passion for gardening, tractors, and fishing—a pastime he cherished whenever time permitted. He was also an avid reader, particularly fond of the Louis L'Amour books, which he enjoyed deeply.
He was known for his steadfast personality, always standing firm in his convictions. Even if he was wrong, Bill believed he was right, a trait that endeared him to many who appreciated his spirited nature and his willingness to agree to disagree.
Bill is survived by his beloved sons, Jon Thomas and his wife Tina Thomas, and Chris Thomas, as well as one sister, Edna Clark, and her husband John Clark. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Rodrick Allen, known affectionately as "Hot Rod," and three cherished grandchildren: Coral Thomas, Alex Thomas, and Shaw Thomas. Their love and presence will undoubtedly continue to be a source of comfort and strength to his memory.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Carol Sue Thomas; his parents, John Eldon Thomas and Evelyn Edna Laxson; and his sister, Elaine Allen.
