Services for Juanita Reyes Gomez, 90 of Temple will be held 8:00 am on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in procession to Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. 

Juanita Reyes Gomez died on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Juanita Reyes Gomez was born on November 3, 1930 to Juan J. Reyes and Maria Delgado Reyes in Cameron, Texas. She graduated from Temple High School. She was a homemaker, fabulous cook, and seamstress for her family and was married to John Gomez. She was a proud matriarch to the church family, community and to those in her family. She was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple and served as a Guadalupana, devoted to her faith and ministries she served as a Choir Director, was an organist for 34 years. She was the pillar of the church as was there over 75 years ago for the ground breaking ceremony to the church expansion. She led the Christmas pageants, ensured her family and all she knew received their sacraments. She loved to lead and did so through the girls scouts for several years. Her greatest life lessons to be passed down is to forgive daily, be strong in your faith and pray.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and eight sisters. 

Survivors include her daughter, Consuelo “Connie” Gomez, four granddaughters, Angelica Nunez, Cynthia Flores and husband Cesar Flores, Jennifer Johnson and husband Jarvis Johnson, Janie Hernandez and husband Joseph Hernandez, a grandson, Jonathan Nunez and wife Prescella Herron and eight great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held the night before mass, on Monday, June 7th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm with resuscitation of the rosary at 8:00 pm.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sabrina Young of Young’s Daughters Funeral Home and Bereavement Center in Temple, Tx.
