Grief Arts and Crafts Class

Arts and crafts are a time-tested healing tool for PTSD, depression, anxiety and other conditions. They can even help relieve pain and improve mobility and fine motor skills. We offer a variety of therapeutic craft kits free of charge to our veterans, both in-home and at community craft centers. The kits use recycled and sustainable materials, promote healing and show our veterans that we remember and care about them.

We have partnered with Help Heal Veterans in Temple to offer a Variety of Kits and Crafts

Here are some examples of the types of kits. Our actual inventory varies, but we always keep a wide variety of projects and craft types in stock

These crafts will help you heal by creating something meaningful from your loved ones items or building in honor of.
What’s in a craft kit? We supply everything a veteran or their family needs to complete a project—which could be anything from leatherworking to building models, to making jewelry and much more—including materials and instructions. It’s all packaged up with a thank-you card for the donor who provided it, which lets the veteran reach out to share what a difference it made to them.

We also work closely with veterans and their clinicians to make sure that each kit is matched to the needs and abilities of the veteran. Some of our kits are better for restoring fine motor skills and concentration; others for relieving depression, grief, and anxiety. All of them build greater self-worth and self-esteem and help our veterans and their families focus on healing.

Here are some examples of the types of kits we send out. Our actual inventory varies, but we always keep a wide variety of projects and craft types in stock.
